AUW opens up designated gift application process

From Aloha United Way

The annual application process to receive designations through the 2012 Aloha United Way campaign is now open. All agencies that are currently eligible must re-apply and those not currently eligible but qualified and wishing to participate are invited to apply.

AUW’s unique donor designation system is also now available to most 501(c){3)s for the 2012 campaign. AUW will not accept designations to grant-making foundations, capital campaigns, memorial funds, agencies that are organized for political purposes or agencies with missions or objectives that are antithetical to the mission and goals of AUW. All others meeting qualifications are now eligible to apply.

To be considered, agencies must meet the following qualifications:

  • Hold 501(c)(3) status with the IRS
  • Be registered with the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs
  • Be registered with the Attorney General’s Office (unless exempt)
  • Deliver a service on Oahu
  • Certify compliance with the Patriot Act
  • Certify compliance with Aloha United Way’s anti-discrimination policy
  • Comply with Aloha United Way’s guidelines on self-promotion of designations
  • Have revenues of at least $25,000 for the past three years
  • Be willing and able to accept payments from Aloha United Way via electronic funds transfer

Applications made be made in two categories:

  2. Community Support Agency – this category includes non-health and human service agencies and health and human service agencies that do not wish to undergo the additional scrutiny/reporting required of Partner Agencies. This category does not receive the added financial and non-financial benefits.
