The 2012 Legislature opened just two weeks ago, and public officials wasted no time hearing bills that impact the nonprofit sector. We will vigilantly monitor issues that relate to us, be on hand to provide information that demonstrates the value nonprofits provide the community, and help ensure that public policies are enacted that improve and strengthen nonprofit operating environments so that critical missions can be met.
HANO continues to play this role on behalf of nonprofits for sector-level issues like tax-exemptions, regulations, issues that affect us as employers, and any other policies that impact our organizations, regardless of mission. We encourage you to join us in this effort. We can tell the story of the sector, but only you can tell the much more compelling story of the difference you make in our community.
As this year’s legislative session progresses, we will update you on critical proposals, occasionally issuing sector-wide action alerts, filing and presenting testimony and making our presence felt at county, state and federal levels. Please stay tuned and get involved.
