Chaminade University of Honolulu has announced the fifth in a series of business plan contests for nonprofit organizations, conducted by the University’s Hogan Entrepreneurs Program and American Savings Bank. The top prize this year is $10,000 for the best plan, to be distributed in one unrestricted lump sum.
Nonprofits interested in participating must complete and submit a statement of intent form by Feb. 8, which can be found in the contest entry packet. The packet includes eligibility requirements, the entry and review process, recognition and awards, evaluation criteria and a sample business plan outline. It also has a section on frequently asked questions to guide applicants. Deadline to submit a plan in the contest is March 6.
Cash prizes will also be awarded to second ($6,000), third ($4,000) and fourth ($2,000) place plans. Other contest finalists will receive $1,000 each. Plans will be judged on the need or demand for the venture, the appropriateness of the venture model, the plan’s financial viability, the organization’s capacity to implement the plan, risk factors, the social return on investment and social innovation.
