The state Senate committees on Health and Human Services will co-host a public hearing focusing on Recovery Act federal stimulus funding from 1:15 to 2:15 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 4, in Room 016 at the Hawaii State Capitol. Click here to view the hearing notice.
Mark Anderson, state lead ARRA coordinator, will provide an update on ARRA and suggest how nonprofit organizations can benefit from stimulus funds. “I am hoping I can get a state agency that has received ARRA funds to discuss how they are making these funds available to a nonprofit,” Anderson told HANO. “And I am hoping I can get a nonprofit to present on how they went about getting an ARRA award. Afterwards, I will stick around to meet people and answer questions in a more informal setting.”
The informational briefing was arranged by Senator Suzane Chun Oakland, chair of the Committee on Human Services. According to the hearing notice: “Mark Anderson, the State American Recovery and Re-investment Act Coordinator , along with various departmental coordinators' from the Department of Human Services, the Department of Health, the Department of the Attorney General, and the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations will be giving a presentation in order to coordinate efforts between Government agencies and nonprofit organizations in maximizing draw down of ARRA funds.”
Anderson is putting together a list of grant opportunities for which a nonprofit could be an eligible applicant, which he said he would make available at the hearing. HANO will post the list on this website when it becomes available.
