CNHA offers Grantee Forum on Maui, July 10-11

The Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement, in partnership with the Office of Hawaiian Affairs, Department of Hawaiian Home Lands and the Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism, held an Oahu Grantee Forum in January, with more than 120 attendees seeking funding resources and networking opportunities.

A second grantee forum will be held July 10 and 11 at the Grand Wailea Resort on Maui in partnership with the DHHL, the Dowling Company, Inc., the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the OHA.

“This is an important time for nonprofit organizations here in Hawaii to take an honest assessment of themselves and share their success stories with the community, industry leaders and funding agencies,” said Robin Puanani Danner, CNHA President and CEO.  “Understanding what resources are already available is even more critical now and networking to reduce duplication of services or increase collaboration among nonprofits is becoming increasingly important.”

At the forum, participants will receive information on a diverse range of local and national funding resources that support community-based programming in community development – including housing, tourism, education, and language preservation and maintenance.  Forum participants can expect presentations from successful local grantees, such as Akoni Akana of Friends of Mokuula and Scott Crawford of Kipahulu Ohana.  Additionally, participants will have a chance to meet with local funders and their priorities.

Nonprofit organizations, volunteers and staff can register by contacting CNHA at (800) 709-2642, events@hawaiiancouncil.org, or click here to download a registration form. Cost is $125 for nonprofits and $175 for others, which includes materials, lunch and the networking reception on Thursday, July 10th. Need-based scholarships are available.
