NCL to host fundraisers for Hawai‘i Island nonprofits

NCL America, the operator of cruises in Hawaiian waters, is now accepting applications from Hawai‘i Island-based nonprofit organizations for its onboard fundraiser program. The program provides selected groups an opportunity to hold a fundraising luncheon, hosted by NCL America, aboard the Pride of America while the ship is in port. The nonprofits will keep all revenue generated from ticket sales.

“NCL America and its many dedicated team members are committed to providing support to the Hawai‘i Island community,” said Alan Yamamoto, vice president of Hawai‘i operations for NCL America. “We have hosted onboard fundraisers for charity groups statewide, making it possible for non-profit organizations to raise funds needed to continue or enhance their programs in the communities they serve.”

Four Hawai‘i Island charities will be selected for fundraisers in 2008. Two events will be held while the Pride of America is docked in Hilo Harbor and two while the vessel is anchored offshore in Kailua-Kona.

Priority will be given to any nonprofit, 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization or community group with a mission to benefit the Hawai‘i Island community through education, protecting Hawai‘i’s environment or perpetuating and respectfully portraying the Hawaiian culture.

To apply, submit a letter of interest by July 30 that includes but is not limited to:

  • Scope of services
  • Mission
  • Year established
  • List of executive staff and board of directors
  • What raised funds will be used for
  • Why your organization is a good partner for NCL America
