Hina Mauka, one of Hawaii's largest alcohol and drug abuse treatment centers, will open its new $2 million outpatient services facility Friday, June 20.
The 2,600-square-foot building, to be called the Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Annex, is expected to increase the center's capacity to serve an additional 150 patients a year. The one-story annex is located at Hina Mauka's main campus in Kaneohe. It will include additional offices for counselors, a larger meeting room, teleconferencing capabilities and file storage space, according to Hina Mauka development officer Greg Tjapkes.
The project has been under construction for two years and is funded primarily through community development block grants from the City & County of Honolulu in addition to a $450,000 grant from the Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Foundation.
Hina Mauka provides prevention, treatment and recovery services to individuals and families coping with alcoholism and drug and chemical dependencies. It has 24 other locations on Oahu and Kauai.
