Habitat hosts information sessions for applicants

Honolulu Habitat for Humanity, a nonprofit that builds homes with volunteer labor in partnership with families who own or lease property, has scheduled a series of informational meetings in May designed for anyone who intends to apply for the program.

  • Saturday, May 2 -- 10:30 a.m. at Windward Community College, Hale Kuhina, Room 115
  • Monday, May 4 – 6:30 p.m. at Windward Community College, Hale Alakai, Room 102
  • Saturday, May 9 – 10:30 a.m. at Papakolea Community Center
  • Monday, May 11 – 6:30 p.m. at Papakolea Community Center

Habitat homes are sold, not given, to approved homeowner applicants. Homeowners pay low, no-interest monthly mortgage payments toward the full ownership of their homes. Moving into and owning a Honolulu Habitat home improves the quality of life for its residents, not only in the physical surroundings but also by instilling a sense of pride and responsibility. Honolulu Habitat for Humanity helps families who cannot afford a traditional mortgage build their own home.
