Create 'Charity Badges' to generate online donations to your nonprofit organization

A new, free holiday fundraising tool is now available from Network for Good that nonprofits and their supporters can use. "Charity Badges" launched on Friday, Dec. 8.

Nonprofits and their networks of clients and donors can make their own badges in a few minutes by uploading personal photos and text, linking their own videos (an option) and begin collecting donations for their own organization or any of more than a million charities. The badges spotlight individual donor/fundaraiser because the primary reason people give is because someone asks them and because people like to create things with their personal imprint.

Charity Badges take advantage of these motivators and also track donations so people can see the difference they are making. Network for Good processes the donations and transfers the funds directly to the nonprofit. See two examples of badges at the Democracy in Action web site and the Robinhood Marketing blog.

At the Network For Good web site you can build a badge for your nonprofit and give it to your supporters—or let them create their own. Create a badge through Yahoo!’s Network of Giving campaign and your nonprofit could receive up to $50,000 in matching funds, plus billing on Yahoo!’s web site. To enter thw campaign, be sure to register your badge on Yahoo! after you create it.

"So far, the badge works on nearly all blogs and some social networking sites," said Katya Andresen, vice president of marketing at Network for Good. "We also have a simple text version you can put in your email signature."
