Nonprofit Congress report sets the agenda

The National Council of Nonprofit Associations, HANO’s national affiliate, has just released Deliberations, Decisions, and Planning: National Meeting Highlights,” a report summarizing the decisions and proceedings of the Nonprofit Congress, held in October in Washington, D.C.

The report includes:

  • Insights from local and national nonprofit leaders on harnessing the collective power of the nonprofit sector
  • The Three Top Priorities of the Nonprofit Congress for 2007, as established by the Nonprofit Congress delegates
  • Proactive strategies for addressing the Top Priorities at the local, state, and national level
  • The shared values of nonprofits, identified through 117 Town Hall meetings (including 11 in Hawai‘i) and a nationwide survey
  • Testimonials from attendees about their experiences at the National Meeting and the future of the Nonprofit Congress

Also available on the Nonprofit Congress web site are photos, forums, video, blogs and state action plans and opportunities to join the conversation about the priorities and share ideas. The Three Top Priorities identified by the Nonprofit Congress delegates are:

  1. Nonprofit organizational effectiveness (focusing on accountability and leadership)
  2. Advocacy and grassroots community activities
  3. Public awareness and support of the nonprofit sector.

HANO is currently seeking member suggestions for how to implement the Three Top Priorities in Hawai‘i. Send your ideas to jflanagan@hano-hawaii.org.
