For Kauai nonprofits looking for high-quality, high-return local training opportunities without leaving the island, HANO is bringing a workshop to them in November.
On Friday morning, Nov. 17, “Critical Issues for Kauai Nonprofits: The Legal & Financial Environment,” will highlight recent changes in the national and local legal environment that will affect Hawai`i nonprofits. These include topics such as risk management and directors and officers insurance, the IRS Form 990, Sarbanes-Oxley, and the Hawai`i Nonprofit Corporations Act.
This half-day workshop provides board members, executive directors, financial managers and bookkeepers guidelines for developing your organization's policies and procedures, improving oversight and establishing critical internal controls. Presenters are Allen Arakaki, CPA, and Brian Ezuka, an attorney specializing in nonprofit law.
This workshop is from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Kauai Humane Society, 3-825 Kaumualii Hwy., Lihue, Kauai; registration opens at 7:45 a.m. Cost is $65 per person for HANO member organizations and United Way agencies, $110 for non-members. For more information and to register click here or contact Sally Ley at (808) 529-0455 or sley@hano-hawaii.org.
Note: We regret having to postpone the afternoon workshop, “Business Planning for Kauai Nonprofits: An Overview,” also originally scheduled for Friday, Nov. 17, to a later date because the presenter is temporarily unavailable.
