The Department of Housing and Urban Development on March 13 announced the availability of approximately $2.4 billion in funding through 38 individual grant programs and encouraged prospective applicants to read the funding notices thoroughly and to follow HUD's step-by-step registration guide.
“HUD is moving full steam ahead toward e-government,” said Secretary Alphonso Jackson. “We invite our applicants to become familiar with the supporting materials we've produced to streamline the submission process even more.”
The Department is pushing toward requiring most grant applications to be submitted electronically through www.grants.gov, although applicants to HUD’s Continuum of Care homeless assistance programs will not be required to submit electronically. Last year, more than 4,300 applicants successfully submitted their applications electronically, according to HUD.
The department provides electronic submission help to applicants, such as HUD's Desktop User's Guide and training via webcast. For a list of training programs, visit HUD's website.
