Learn project planning, the key to nonprofit success

The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation and the Project Management Institute are again offering low-cost project planning workshops for nonprofit organizations. If you have ever had to abandon a project because was costing much more than expected, missed a fundraising goal, failed to implement a project because of unforeseen circumstances or just didn’t know where and how to get started, project planning is for you.

Most nonprofits are project-driven, they focus on goals or objectives and activities that have a distinct beginning and ending, such as a fundraiser, implementing a new program or service, or developing a new marketing campaign. Nonprofits differ from most businesses because they depend on donations and grants, work under greater fiscal scrutiny and depend on volunteers.

The workshops will be offered seven more times during 2008, from April to December. They are one-day, six-hour classes with lunch included. Each class is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Aloha Council, Boy Scouts of America, 42 Puiwa Rd., Honolulu. Dates are:

  • Thursday, April 3
  • Tuesday, June 10
  • Wednesday, Aug.  6
  • Wednesday, Sept. 10
  • Thursday, Oct. 9
  • Thursday, Nov. 6
  • Tuesday, Dec. 2

Enrollment in each session is limited, so sign up soon to guarantee a seat on the date you prefer. Click here to download the brochure and application form.
