Hawai‘i Polo has alerted us that the new polo season is set to begin in Mokuleia on the North Shore on May 4. The club has acquired over 30 new polo ponies, improved the clubhouse and grounds and signed up a great new food and beverage vendor. The ponies are ready to go with matches scheduled against North Carolina, Mexico, Argentina, Chili and Maui.
The club says parking is plentiful and matches start around 1:30 p.m. There are two games each Sunday, a half-time show and a band that starts playing after game two while cocktails and dancing continue until sunset.
This year, the club is offering a package for nonprofit fundraisers. “We developed a special fundraising formula for nonprofit 501(c) organizations to tie into the excitement and tailgate fun with no up-front expense,” said Paul Moor of Event Attainment. “Use polo to raise money by inviting your followers to a day in the country supporting your cause.”
Here’s the deal: Tickets are $30 per person. $10 goes to the nonprofit; $20 goes to pay expenses including admission, parking, a barbeque lunch, soft drink, the two polo matches, half-time entertainment, the band and dancing after the second game and a no-host bar and dancing until sunset.
Moor says, “We are planning special days for Mothers Day and Fathers Day and every Sunday promises to be just a fabulous day in the country with ‘Polo in Paradise.’” Customized packages are available, too. For more information, contact Moor at (808) 348-9137 or pjmoor1@hotmail.com.
