Waikiki Healkth Center's new mobile clinic

Waikiki Health Center launches new mobile clinic

Waikiki Health Center introduced its new Mobile Clinic to the community at a blessing ceremony on March 18.  Acquired with a $100,000 federal grant, this custom designed “clinic on wheels” features a private room with exam table, patient waiting area, reception table, bathroom, and storage areas.  The Mobile Clinic is wheelchair accessible.

The new clinic joins two medically equipped vans to bring mobile services directly to individuals and families across Oahu who are experiencing homelessness. The vans make scheduled visits to aproximately 30 locations on the island each week.

On the recommendation of the Rotary Club of Honolulu, the Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Foundation awarded a $10,000 grant to Waikiki Health Center to purchase the necessary medical equipment to outfit the Mobile Clinic.

The Mobile Clinic offers private medical care that will enable our Care-a-Van program to broaden the range of health services it provides “in the field” to Oahu ’s homeless families and individuals:

  • Comprehensive women’s health services, such as pap smears, pelvic exams, breast health screening, and self-exam instruction.
  • Physical exams and sports physicals for children to satisfy school requirements.
  • Mental/behavioral health treatment.
  • Minor surgeries and wound care.

Waikiki Health Center is a private nonprofit, federally qualified community health center, which provides medical and social services to people from all walks of life, placing specialk emphasis on at-risk, hard-to-reach populations, such as runaway youth, seniors who are aging in polace, disadvantaged children, the uninsured or underinsured, homeless individuals and families, and people with HIV.
