Join PHOCUSED and AARP at April 7 ‘Rainy Day Rally’

Hawaii’s families and caregivers need your help, say organizers of a 10 a.m. rally on Tuesday, April 7 at the State Capitol Rotunda. PHOCUSED (Protecting Hawaii’s Ohana, Children, Underserved, Elderly and Disabled) and AARP ask the community to join them to ask the Legislature to support SB 1679, which uses Hawaii’s Rainy Day Fund to support vital safety net programs for health, human services and education.

Affected programs include: Kupuna Care, Aging and Disability Resource Centers, Senior Centers, Healthy Start, Keiki Care, Partnerships in Community Living, Chronic Disease Management, Mental Health Services, Healthcare for the under-insured and others.

The day’s agenda:

  •  9:15 a.m. – Legislative visits
  • 10 a.m. – Rally at Rotunda
  • 10:45 a.m. – Group photo and possible joint press conference
  • 11:00 a.m. – Pau

If your group of 40 to 48 people needs a bus to attend, contact Jackie Boland at (808) 545-6003 or jboland@aarp.org by Thursday, April 2, to make arrangements.
