Learn how to translate donor stories into dollars

As challenging economic times continue, it is even more important to hone development skills and cultivate meaningful relationships with donors who are passionate about your cause. Learning the skills necessary to uncover the personal stories behind each of your donors will change you, your donors and your organization forever.

HANO and the Association of Fundraising Professionals Aloha Chapter present "Uncovering Donor Stories and How They Can Transform Organizations," on Thursday, April 9, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at HCAP's Third Floor Board Room, One South King Building, 33 South King St., Honolulu. Registration will open at 8:30 a.m. 

Presenter Monica Grant, vice president of the YMCA of Honolulu, is a dynamic, engaging speaker with a great sense of humor. A good storyteller herself, she has 20 years experience in fund development and has led workshops statewide.

Attendees will learn to: 

• Appreciate the "neuroscience" of story sharing 
• Understand the role that rituals play in story sharing
• Discern when to be a story "teller" and when to be a story "gatherer"
• Explore why some of the best stories are collaborations
• Discuss the role that inclusion plays in fostering story sharing

The deadline to register has been extended to Monday, April 6. Cost is $70 for HANO and AFP members, $100 for non-members. There is a multiple-registrant discount, $60 each for two or more HANO or AFP members, $90 each for two or more non-members.
