New Disney resort at Ko Olina launches photo contest

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts has joined forces with the Hawai'i Arts Alliance to invite elementary, middle and high school students from across the state to submit photographs showcasing the viewpoint of local youth on the beauty of the Hawaiian Islands and their everyday lives.

Approximately 150 student submissions will be incorporated into a vibrant photo collage featured at Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa at Ko Olina on Oahu for the opening of the resort's first phase in 2011. Students are encouraged to take photos that represent distinct, individual colors of the rainbow from inspiration found in and around their daily lives, such as nature, the surrounding environment and local culture.

Participants interested in submitting a photo for the Children's Digital Image Rainbow Project can visit http://hawaiiartsalliance.org/schoolphotocontest to learn more about the project and the image submission process.  Digital images can be submitted online or mailed on disk to Hawai'i Arts Alliance, ATTN: Disney Photo Contest, P.O. Box 3948, Honolulu, HI  96812.

Deadline for submissions is May 15. Contact Marla Momi Musick, communications director at Hawaii Arts Alliance, arts@hawaiiartsalliance.org, with any questions or to have a flyer emailed to you for distribution.
