A Hawaii nonprofit that works with youth has joined with one of the state’s largest solar companies to train young adults in how to install photovoltaic systems. Collaborating on the project are Kupu, which empowers young people to serve their communities, and Kailua-based Sunetric.
The program, part of Kupu’s Urban Corps pilot project, provides free on-the-job training and classroom instruction. Six young men are currently working with Sunetric field crews to become solar installers. Sunetric also is donating materials and staff time to run weekly labs.
