YWCA of Oahu to offer Gallup ‘Great Manager Program’

Gallup University and the YWCA of Oahu will present a training program based on the best-selling book, “First, Break All the Rules: What the World’s Greatest Managers Do Differently,” by Marcus Buckingham and Curt Coffman and a management study of 80,000 managers in 400 companies. The program runs for eight weeks, from Sept. 4 to Oct. 26, and includes two days of onsite Gallup University training on Thursday, Oct. 4, and Friday, Oct. 5, at the Sheraton Waikiki.

The Great Manager Program is designed to help managers gain a greater understanding of themselves and their management styles, discover employee-engaging concepts, strategies and tools and unleashing the human potential within their organizations. Attendees will better understand their strengths as managers, learn how management style supports or undermine employee engagement and performance, and assess their workgroup’s engagement levels and develop plans to achieve crucial business outcomes.

Managers will complete the Clifton StrengthsFinder and an employee engagement survey, participate in an e-learning course and receive one-on-one coaching. During the on-site portion of the course, participants learn about their talents and strengths, gain insights for personal and professional development and acquire strategies to increase their workgroup’s performance and engagement through group instruction, one-on-one consulting and small-group interaction.

Gallup consultants use each manager’s StrengthsFinder and employee engagement data to help them become more effective and formulate their management strategy and help managers maximize the momentum and energy generated during the course.

Cost of the program is $3,500; cost for early bird registrants is $3,200 before July 31. The program is limited to the first 25 participants. To register, contact Luana Kuhns, (808) 538-7061 ext. 222 or lkuhns@ywcaoahu.org. Click here for more information about this and other upcoming offerings in the YWCA of Oahu’s Leadership Series.
