Applications are due by Aug. 6 for funding from the 2008 National Youth Traffic Safety Month for a state team or teams seeking Public Health Traffic Safety Institute mini-grants. These grants are to help state and local organizations and leaders get a head start on preparing a National Youth Traffic Safety Month project to improve traffic safety in their communities.
Communities can organize and nominate teams of five multi-disciplinary members including but not limited to public health, transportation, highway and traffic safety, school health, community officials and organizations, emergency medical services, law enforcement, injury prevention, community health workers, local health department injury prevention programs, etc.
Teams chosen will attend and participate in a full day orientation in Washington, D.C., on Nov. 3. Costs for travel and lodging for up to five team members will be covered, up to $5,000.
