HANO Town Hall contributes ideas to Nonprofit Congress

One-page summaries of Town Halls held in 25 states, including Hawai‘i , are now available on the Nonprofit Congress website. Here are some of the major trends from nearly 100 Town Halls in 2007 and 2008:

Nonprofit Organizational Effectiveness

  • Promote unified standards of accountability and best practices for nonprofits
  • Leadership must be strengthened by succession planning, training of mid-level staff, and outreach to young people to enter the sector

Advocacy and Grassroots Activities

  • “Nonprofit Days” at state capitols have been very successful
  • Obtain more information on rules for advocacy/lobbying by nonprofits

Public Awareness and Support of the Sector

  • Express pride in our work
  • Message to government/community: Imagine a day without nonprofits
