This fall, Hawaii will co-sponsor a new clean energy summit that is expected to draw international participation. The 2009 Asia Pacific Clean Energy Summit and Expo will be held Aug. 31 to Sept. 3 at the Sheraton Waikiki resort in Honolulu.
The state is organizing the summit and expo in cooperation with the Defense Energy Support Center and U.S. Pacific Command, the Department of Defense. The Asia Pacific Clean Energy Summit and Expo will highlight renewable energy initiatives and policies throughout the Asia-Pacific region and include a trade show for innovative technologies, services and ideas.
The 7th Korea-Pacific U.S. States Joint Conference, an annual business-to-business conference held with the states of Alaska, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Oregon and Washington, also will be held in Honolulu in conjunction with the summit. That conference is sponsored by the Korea International Trade Association, Korea-U.S. Economic Council, and the participating states.
