State gets $601,873 from ARRA for job training

The state was awarded $601,873 for on-the-job training and employment-related services for dislocated workers, the Star-Advertiser reported on July 3. The funds come from a national emergency grant through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

The grant is the sixth National Emergency Grant award the state Department of Labor and Industrial Relations has received over the past eight years – bringing the total to nearly $5.4 million.

"These funds will help us get our local residents back to work," said Pearl Imada Iboshi, DLIR's acting director.
