Free PSAs and air time for Hawai‘i nonprofits

To support female student filmmakers and women's causes, Carmen Stevens Productions will finance development of public service announcements and broadcast placements on statewide television for a women's or girls' organization.

One organization will be selected to receive a full PSA production at no charge. Hawai‘i Student Television will select an all-female student production team, which will get production credit and financial support for their school’s video program. Through HSTV's television broadcast placement services, the PSA will get statewide dedicated air time, not rotation, and will be placed to reach the organization's target audience.

"We are very grateful to Carmen Stevens for stepping forward with such a generous offer. This is a win-win for not only young female student filmmakers but also a women’s or girls' organization that needs publicity and would otherwise not be able to afford production or television airtime," said Robert Olague, HSTV president and executive producer. In May, Carmen Stevens Productions provided a $500 prize for best female student filmmaker at HSTV’s Hawai‘i Student Film Festival, he said.
