Sierra Club’s Hawaii Chapter names a new ED

Robert D. Harris, a local environmental attorney, is the new statewide director of the Sierra Club, Hawaii Chapter, the state’s largest grass-roots environmental advocacy organization. Harris replaces Jeff Mikulina, who left the Sierra Club in September to head the Blue Planet Foundation.

“Robert is a natural fit with the Sierra Club,” said Lucienne DeNaie, chairwoman of the Sierra Club, Hawaii Chapter. “Robert’s legal and scientific background and familiarity with the organization give him the opportunity to take the Sierra Club to new levels. His energy and enthusiasm are a welcome addition to our organization.”

National and local chapters of SCORE announce new leaders

Keith Ogata, former district director, has been named to SCORE’s national board of directors. He was the former chief financial officer of National Education Corp., one of the leading education, training and publishing companies in the United States.

Replacing him as district director is Mike Herb, who also is a board member of the Hawaii Society of Corporate Planners and Chaminade’s Hogan Entrepreneurs program and a member of the Hawaii Venture Capital Association and Pacific & Asian Affairs Council.

Dennis Bunda has been named chapter chairman. He recently was awarded status as a member of the American College of Forensic Examiners Institute, specializing in forensic accounting consulting. SCORE is a national nonprofit group that educates and helps small-business entrepreneurs grow their businesses and a resource partner of the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Ginger Gannon to lead HCF's Maui office

The Maui County Office of the Hawaii Community Foundation has announced that Ginger Gannon is now a Philanthropic Services Officer for Maui. In addition, Kathleen Buenger has joined HCF's Maui County Office as a Philanthropic Services Officer to assist Gannon.
