Recent grants to Hawaii nonprofit organizations

> Maney estate gives $667,170 to UH library -- A $667,170 donation from the estate of Joseph and Florence Maney will help support the library at the University of Hawaii at Hilo in perpetuity, the UH Foundation said in a news release. The bequest through the Florence Maney Trust will form an endowment to pay for new books, periodicals, online databases and other additions to the library collection.

> Honda and Kosasa Foundations give $200,000 to Culinary Institute -- The Honda Foundation donated $100,000 and the Kosasa Foundation pledged $100,000 to support the construction of the Culinary Institute of the Pacific. The advanced culinary institute will be built on the site of the former U.S. Army Fort Ruger Cannon Club on the northern slope Diamond Head.

> OHA grants $150,000 to Big Island civic club -- The Ali'i Pauahi Hawaiian Civic Club received $150,000 from the Office of Hawaiian Affairs to develop a farm in Wailea on the Big Island to cultivate Hawaiian hardwood trees and plants.

> Kahi Mohala earns $10,000 grant from First Hawaiian Bank -- Kahi Mohala Behavioral Health has received $10,000 from the First Hawaiian Bank Foundation to support a fundraising campaign for renovation and expansion of its Lokelani Child & Adolescent Unit. If Kahi Mohala raises $50,000 from the community before Dec. 31, it will receive a $50,000 matching grant from its parent company, Sutter Health, for the renovation project. Kahi Mohala's board of trustees has pledged $19,250.

> Women's Fund of Hawai`i awards $6,000 to Women Who Care -- Through the Fertile Grounds for Reproductive Justice program, the Women's Fund f Hawaii has awarded $6,000 to Women Who Care to empower and educate women about their reproductive and health rights with respect to birthing options. The organization produced a play, "Birth," to raise awareness about reproductive justice in the Maui community.

> Bank of Hawaii grants $5,000 to Mental Health Kokua --  To support group home repairs and renovations for its transitional and supportive housing programs in Hilo and Kona, the Bank of Hawaii Charitable Foundation has granted $5,000 to Mental Health Kokua, which provides safe and stabilizing places for adults with serious mental illness to live with trained staff on site up to 24 hours a day. The grant will fund interior and exterior renovation and repair work at Hilo Hale, Hale Amau, PATCH Place and Kealahou.
