Applications for AUW funding are due by Dec. 15

From Aloha United Way

The annual application process to be eligible for designations through the 2011 Aloha United Way campaigns is now open. All agencies that are currently eligible must re-apply and those not currently eligible but qualified and wishing to participate are invited to apply.

To be considered agencies must meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • Hold 501c3 status with the IRS
  • Be registered with the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs
  • Be registered with the Attorney General’s Office (unless exempt)
  • Deliver a health and /or human service on Oahu
  • Certify compliance with the Patriot Act
  • Certify compliance with Aloha United Way’s anti-discrimination policy
  • Comply with Aloha United Way’s guidelines on self-promotion of designations.

Nonprofits may apply for eligibility in one of three categories:

  1. Partner Agency – this category is for health and human service agencies that undergo additional scrutiny and must do additional reporting but these agencies receive both financial and non-financial benefits.
  2. Community Support Agency – this category includes health and human service agencies that do not wish to undergo the additional scrutiny and reporting required of Partner Agencies and they do not receive the added financial and non-financial benefits.
  3. Community Support Program – this category allows non-health and human service agencies to receive designations for a health and human service program. Funding will be restricted to the qualifying program.

Organizations that are uncertain about which category to apply for may attend an orientation session from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 7, in the Oahu Room on the 5th Floor at Aloha United Way, 200 N. Vineyard Blvd., Honolulu. Parking is limited; be prepared for metered street parking.  Some find our meeting rooms cool so bring a sweater or light jacket. An RSVP is required to attend the session  –  RSVP to Jerelenn@auw.org or (808) 543-2214.

The application is online. Click on this link to enter the system: https://agency.e-cimpact.com/login.aspx?Signout=true&org=13010F. If yours is a registered agency, enter your user name and password. If your agency has not applied before, follow the instructions to register. For information on the online system, contact Mahea, Mahealani@auw.org or (808) 543-2206.

The application deadline is Dec. 15. Applications are reviewed by a volunteer committee and their determinations are final. Agencies will be informed about their status by email in early 2011. If you have any questions about the overall process, contact Norm Baker, norm@auw.org or (808) 543-2202.
