Nominees sought for Mental Health Mahalo Awards

To celebrate community leaders and agencies who have helped lift the stigma of mental illness and improve care and treatment of people with mental illness Mental Health America of Hawai‘i, which recently changed its name from the Mental Health Association, will commemorate Mental Health Month in May 2007.

MHAH will recognize positive, effective and innovative programs and leadership and years of dedication of so many in the mental health community at the Second Annual Mental Health Mahalo Awards Luncheon, which will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 3, at the Japanese Cultural Center, 2454 S Beretania St., Honolulu. The organization now seeks nominees for the following awards:

  • Outstanding Community Agency Executive Director, for Service
  • Outstanding Community Agency, for Service
  • Outstanding Agency or Individual, for Public Awareness
  • Outstanding Government Program, Agency or Individual, for Public Policy
  • Outstanding Business, for Education and Support to Maintain Mental Health
  • Outstanding Business, for Supporting Persons with Mental Illness through Hiring Practices.
