In January, in partnership with PHOCUSED, a new health and human services advocacy group, HANO did a quick survey on the human impact of recent government funding cuts. More than 160 organizations from all major islands and representing all facets of the sector responded within four days, providing powerfully illuminating data. We especially appreciate the contribution from non-health and human services organizations that helped create a more comprehensive view of the impact of these cuts on the entire sector. Thank you to all for sharing your perspectives.
Your responses enabled HANO and PHOCUSED, in short order, to present the results to policy-makers and the media. The fact that we were able to get feedback from you so quickly and communicate it effectively outward, confirms for us that we've made progress in our efforts to engage, bring together and tell the stories of the nonprofit sector.
We appreciate the feedback from many of you who say you value our monthly newsletter and regularly check our website for nonprofit news. In the February AGENDA, we share the preliminary results of the survey with you and highlight some bright spots amidst the backdrop of the economic challenges facing our sector. As always, we welcome your input about how to continue to make the newsletter and website better.
Aloha,
Lisa Maruyama
