HMSA Foundation awards more than $633K

The Hawaii Medical Service Association Foundation announced nine grants on Tuesday, Jan. 6, that  total more than $633,836 for community organizations and health programs for the fourth quarter of 2008. The grants approved by the foundation’s board of directors will go to the following:

• Aloha Medical Mission, $50,000;
• Child and Family Service, $60,000;
• Hawaii Island Adult Care, $5,000;
• Office for Social Ministry, $50,000;
• Organ Donor Center of Hawaii, $10,000;
• Palolo Chinese Home, $11,046;
• Prevent Child Abuse Hawaii, $18,000;
• University of Hawaii Foundation, $419,790, over three years; and
• YMCA of Honolulu, $10,000.
