AARP organizes Care Giver Day at capitol

AARP and the Hawaii Caregiver Coalition will try to raise awareness among lawmakers about caregivers' vital contributions and unmet needs and the need to protect our vital safety net of home and community based services from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 26 at the Hawaii State Capitol.

During Caregiver Day at the Capitol, volunteers will visit with Legislators to discuss how to ease the burden of care. The event will feature a caregiver resource fair featuring more than 50 service providers.

Nearby parking is available at Alii Place at the corner of Hotel and Richards streets (enter from Alakea) for $1 per hour; at the Fasi Municipal Building Parking Lot, 1100 Alapai St., for $1.50 per hour; at the Kalanimoku Building Parking Lot, 1151 Punchbowl St. for $1 per hour; at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center Parking Lot, 777 Ward Ave.. for a $5 flat rate; at the Hawaii State Capitol Parking Lot, 415 S. Beretania St., for $1 per hour for first 2 hours, $2 per hour thereafter. Metered street parking is available on Punchbowl, King, Kawaihao, South and Richards streets.
