ReZoom.com will award $200,000 to 20 charities across the nation. The “A Better World” contest winners will be elected from charities nominated by Jan. 26. Organizations making a difference in their communities and throughout the world can nominate themselves.
Once nominations are complete, individuals can go online to vote for their favorite, most inspirational charities. In each of 20 regions, the ten top vote getters and five charities selected at large will become finalists. An independent panel of judges will select 20 regional winners for awards of $5,000 each from the finalists.
Finally, voters nationwide will elect one charity from the 20 regional winners, the organization that has taken the greatest leadership role in creating “A Better World.” That charity will receive the $100,000 national award and its representative will receive a trip to the awards presentation.
Eligible are 501(c)(3) nonprofits based in the United States that receive at least half their funding through private donations. The nomination essay should describe the need or problem the charity addresses, how it meets that need and include a success story or a specific example of its work.
In Hawai‘i, as of Jan. 1, only three organizations had been nominated: Child and Family Service, Epilepsy Foundation of Hawai‘i and the Hemophilia Foundation of Hawai‘i. Click here to nominate an organization.
