Public Policy

New nonprofit advocacy guide available from CLPI

Nonprofits looking to use their voices to shape public policy and make lasting change have a new weapon in their arsenals. The Center for Lobbying in the Public Interest has released a new guidebook, “Make a Difference for Your Cause: Strategies for Nonprofit Engagement in Legislative Advocacy.”

This new booklet, available for free download from the Center’s web site, is designed for service-oriented nonprofits in the early stages of building capacity for advocacy. It provides a step-by-step roadmap, success stories, an overview of the legislative process and the elements of an effective and sustainable advocacy plan.

The guide also includes a list of questions to stimulate discussion with others in your organization and help them understand the power of advocacy in advancing the organization’s mission. The 36-page guides can be purchased in bulk quantities to share with boards, staffs or members.
