Professor Jennifer Chandler’s marketing communications students at the University of Hawai‘i-Manoa’s Shidler College of Business are looking for clients, including nonprofits, interested in their services. Between January and May 2008, the class will be developing free communications strategies on their behalf.
In January, Chandler will survey interested organizations to get an overview of any marketing communications strategy that currently exists. Based on that survey, students will gather information on their own about their clients between January and March. In mid-March, Chandler will invite representatives from the client agencies to answer questions in class as the students refine their projects. By May, the students will prepare a three to five page summary of their recommendations.
If your nonprofit is interested in participating, you would complete a short survey in January, speak to the class for about one hour in March and “sign a letter saying we didn't force the company into the situation, nor are we charging for the service. This is it in a nutshell, but I can provide any further details if needed. I’m looking forward to working with you,” Chandler said.
