Students qualify for UH scholarships as rehabilitation workers

The University of Hawai‘i’s Rehabilitation Counselor Education Program has received a training grant from the U.S. Department of Education, Rehabilitation Services Administration for five years, from 2004 through 2009. A limited number of scholarships are available for eligible scholars who agree to work in rehabilitation settings that meet payback requirements.

If selected, each scholar will receive tuition support and a small stipend while in the program. Students can apply now for fall 2008. All qualified applicants will be considered, regardless of race, sex, age, religion, color, national origin, ancestry, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or status as disabled veteran or veteran of Vietnam era.

To be considered, applicants must meet departmental requirements in addition to those of the UH Graduate Division, including:

  • being admitted to the program before applying for a scholarship;
  • submitting a letter of interest for the scholarship that describes the intended employment setting, career goal/objectives after graduation, and
  • submitting a statement of financial need.
