HANO members elect three new board members

Beth Giesting, chair of the HANO board’s nominating committee, announced the committee’s three nominees for the board at the Dec. 5 HANO annual meeting at the Pacific Club and the nominees were elected by a voice vote. They are:

  • Cheryl Kauhane Lupenui, president and CEO of the YWCA of Oahu
  • Noelani Lee Yamashita, executive director of Ka Honua Momona of Molokai
  • Christopher G. Pablo, partner, Goodsill Anderson Quinn & Stifel law firm, Honolulu  

The three new directors fill the seats of departing board members. Jerry Rauckhorst, CEO of Catholic Charities Hawaii, who completed a second three-year term. CPA Peter Matsumoto and Sandy Baz, executive director of Maui Economic Opportunity, Inc., resigned, both having served since the organization reincorporated as the Hawaii Alliance of Nonprofits.

Board Chair Laura Robertson thanked the departing members, especially Jerry Rauckhorst, who served as board chair during the organization’s transition from being the Hawaii Community Services Council to becoming the statewide nonprofit alliance, with a new mission and clearer focus to strengthen the nonprofit sector as a collective force to improve the quality of life in Hawaii. “Our role is to bring the sector together,” she said, “so we can work on issues affecting all of us.”
