Nominate nonprofit leaders for IS recognition

Independent Sector seeks your help to identify candidates of stature and achievement for the 2010 John W. Gardner Leadership Award. The award recognizes an individual whose leadership in or with the nonprofit community has been transformative and who has mobilized and unified people, institutions, or causes that improve lives. It will be presented at the 2010 Independent Sector Annual Conference, which will take place October 20-22 in Atlanta.

IS has presented the Gardner Leadership Award since 1985 to an outstanding American who exemplifies the leadership and the ideals of John W. Gardner, founding chair of Independent Sector and a distinguished participant in the country's educational, philanthropic, and political life.

The deadline for nominations is 11:59 pm EST on Friday, Jan. 29. Visit the IS website to learn more about the nomination and selection process, as well as the 2009 honoree, Geoffrey Canada, president and CEO of Harlem Children's Zone.
