Seize this opportunity to gear up
for the 2011 Legislative session

Join HANO for a "Nonprofit Advocacy 101: How to Do it Right" workshop on Jan. 10. Organizations that connect with and inspire clients and donors need to be equally comfortable and competent in connecting with legislators and forming strong networks to better achieve their goals. Often nonprofits believe they should be doing more in this arena but allow lack of skills or knowledge and/or concerns about engaging in politics to hold them back.

This full-day workshop, featuring Bill Musick of Tower Hill Resources, focuses on key areas that will help nonprofits achieve the maximum potential of advocacy work for their organizations, clients and communities without jeopardizing their nonprofit status. A lunchtime panel will share different models of advocacy.

The workshop will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 10 (registration at 8:30 a.m.) at Honolulu Community Action Program, One South King Building, 33 South King St., Suite 300 in Honolulu. Materials, light morning and afternoon refreshments will be provided; lunch is brown bag.

Featured presenter Bill Musick is principal of Tower Hill Resources, which he founded to help nonprofits maximize their potential as they make decisions at key junctures in their organization's life. Musick is a licensed consultant of the Standards of Excellence Institute, a national initiative to promote the highest standards of ethics and accountability in nonprofit governance, management and operations.

Cost is $100 for HANO members, $160 for nonmembers. Click here for more information and to register by Wednesday, Jan. 5.
