IS seeks nominations for John W. Gardner Leadership Award

General Colin Powell and Alma J. Powell, the founding chairman and current chair of America’s Promise Alliance, were recipients of the 2010 John W. Gardner Leadership Award. This prestigious honor recognizes individuals whose leadership in or with the nonprofit community has been transformative and who have mobilized and unified people, institutions or causes that improve lives.

Independent Sector has presented the Gardner Leadership Award since 1985 to outstanding Americans who exemplify the leadership and the ideals of John W. Gardner, founding chair of Independent Sector and a distinguished participant in the country's educational, philanthropic, and political life. IS seeks your help in identifying extraordinary candidates of stature and achievement for the 2011 award to be presented at the IS Annual Conference, Oct. 30 to Nov. 1 in Chicago.
