Midweek to publish nonprofit advertising pro-bono

The Oahu weekly newspaper MidWeek has announced plans to highlight the impact of charitable organizations and offer pro-bono advertising space beginning in the July 1 edition. The 25-year-old, free-distribution publication also will begin a new feature called “Proof Positive” in conjunction with Clear Channel Radio.

MidWeek invites leaders of Hawaii charitable organizations to tell their stories and the stories of the people who benefit from their services on the weekly “Proof Positive” page. Sharing space on the page is “Good Neighbors,” which each week will focus on a person who contributes to the community as a volunteer.

Space on the page will be reserved for nonprofit ads. Any nonprofit organization is welcome to submit a public service announcement for consideration. Ads will run pro-bono and be rotated based on space availability. For more information, contact Sara Uemura at suemura@starbulletin.com or (808) 529-4703.

“Many nonprofit organizations are experiencing declines in contributions due to our faltering economy,” said Dennis Francis, MidWeek president. “This page will not only share good news stories, but it will also allow a nonprofit a chance to highlight their organization and tell readers how to make contributions.”
