Omidyar Ohana Fund seeks community stabilization

The Hawaii Community Stabilization Initiative at Hawaii Community Foundation now has a webpage: www.hawaiicsi.org. Find information there about the programs funded by this initiative and learn where to find assistance if you or someone you know needs help with food stamps, credit counseling, income tax preparation, financial planning or mortgage foreclosure counseling.

The initiative is a six-year, $8 million funding partnership to stabilize communities by helping families and individuals weather the recession and build towards the future.  It seeks to increase the use of available government resources, credit counseling and mortgage foreclosure services and asset-building strategies.

The Omidyar Ohana Fund is providing a lead grant of $4 million for this initiative that must be matched by other donors, foundations and government agencies over the next six years. For more information, contact Kalowena Komeiji, director of communications at Hawaii Community Foundation, kkomeiji@hcf-hawaii.org or (808) 537-6333.
