
First responders offer preparedness workshops
City and County of Honolulu Department of Emergency Management, the University of Hawaii Sea Grant Program, Maui Civil Defense, Hawaii County Civil Defense and NOAA Sea Grant Coastal Storms Program are presenting a series of workshops, which began in June, to help communities prepare for natural disasters. Topics included are:
County Civil Defense – Emergency Management and Evacuation Planning
Pacific Tsunami Warning Center – Tsunami Warnings
National Weather Service – Hurricane Forecasts
UH Sea Grant – Homeowners Handbook to Prepare for Natural Hazards
Additional Home Hurricane Retrofit Measures
Dept. of Land and Natural Resources – National Flood Insurance Program
