The HANO Grant Solicitation Support Services Program, announced at the May 2007 conference of the Hawai‘i Alliance of Nonprofit Organizations, is a new member benefit that will provide HANO member organizations affordable proposal review and grant writing services by experts.
The program is led by Robin Johnson of Social Currency, formerly program officer for Private Foundation Services at Hawai‘i Community Foundation. “This program strikes a particular chord with organizations new to the proposal writing process,” Johnson said, “those that are in between development staff and those that have repeatedly applied for funding without success.”
A team of carefully screened, experienced and qualified local independent consultants will give HANO nonprofit members an opportunity to build and strengthen their grant writing skills, make their pursuit of foundation funding more effective and raise their understanding of foundation funding decisions.
The proposal review service will provide professional feedback to strengthen proposals and ensure effective use of grant opportunities, while the proposal writing service will provide professionally developed proposals tailored to your objectives and the interests of the prospective funder. The knowledge an organization gains through these services will broaden their understanding of the organization’s relevance, its growth potential and the challenges it must address.
This new program is available beginning July 2 on a limited, members-only basis. HANO will provide ten proposal writing appointments per month on a first-come-first-served basis to member organizations with operating budgets less than $1 million. The service is is limited to proposals for local trusts and foundations and application deadlines must be at least two weeks from the time of contract.
Proposal writing will include drafting the executive summary, proposal narrative and project budget, and editing and revising documents after the client reviews a first draft. For more on this new member benefit, including the fee schedule, click here.
