Free webcast will help prepare nonprofits for FIN 48

If you are a nonprofit CFO or controller, you've likely heard of FASB Interpretation No. 48, Accounting for Uncertainty in Income Taxes: An Interpretation of FASB Statement 109. But you may still be wondering, how does it apply to a tax-exempt organization?

FIN 48 is a new accounting standard which means its adoption and the related documentation is management’s responsibility. You need to be prepared to assess your organization's compliance with the rules of FIN 48 long before it's time to close the books.

Grant Thornton will present a free webcast for nonprofits wishing to learn more about their responsibilities and how FIN 48 may apply to their organizations, "Preparing your not-for-profit organization for FIN 48."

On Wednesday, June 4, from 7:30 to 9 Hawai‘i Time, Tom Brean, audit partner, and Greg Goller, the partner in charge of Grant Thornton's national nonprofit tax practice, will review FIN 48, pinpoint how it could apply to your organization, go over the evaluation and estimation processes and discuss the need for documentation.

To register, follow these steps. You will receive an e-mail confirmation with instructions for attending the webcast.
