Hawaii Youth Services Network in collaboration with CompassPoint will provide a two-day training on strategic planning in Honolulu, June 18 and 19. The training will be free and facilitated by Jude Kaye, a CompassPoint senior consultant and a nationally respected author and trainer specializing in planning, board governance, collaboration, meetings, supervisory skills, change management and organizational development.
With the goal of expanding the pool of consultants available in Hawaii to conduct Strategic Planning services, this training is geared for individuals with specific skill sets. Therefore, HYSN has established an application process and other requirements for this intermediate level training.
The application process requires completion and submission of an application questionnaire by no later than June 3. All attendees are required to attend both days of the training in their entirety. Since HYSN is waiving registration fees, all attendees must commit to deliver at least 16 hours of Strategic Planning services to either HYSN intensives or member agencies within the next year.
The classes will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 18 and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 19 at the Hilton Waikiki Prince Kuhio Hotel, 2500 Kuhio Ave., Honolulu. There is only valet parking available at a cost of $10 per day, which HYSN will not reimburse. Morning snacks and lunch will be provided on both days. HYSN will cover airline transportation costs for attendees from neighboring islands upon request.
Materials provided include "Strategic Planning for Nonprofit Organizations, A Practical Guide and Workbook," which particiants should review before the training. For more information or to request an application, contact Christine Payne, (808) 531-2198 or cpayne@hysn.org.
