
Association executives’ conference set for June 5
The American Society of Association Executives-Hawaii will present its first annual conference, "Best Practices in Professional Development," from 12:30 to 5:15 p.m. on Friday, June 5, at the Sheraton Waikiki & Westin Manoa Surfrider in Honolulu. A wine and tapas happy hour will follow from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and registration opens at noon.
HANO and ASAE members qualify for a discounted registration fee of $95 – non-member registration is $115 – and lunch and the happy hour are both included. Those attending only the post-conference happy hour can do so for $45.
The luncheon speaker will be entrepreneur Eddie Flores of L&L Drive-Inn. Attendees may select from the following afternoon sessions:
- Nonprofit and Association Law presented by attorney Jeffrey Piper
- Technology, including Managing in a Technological Society, Social Media, and Tops and Tricks of Website Management presented by Jonagustine Lim of LimPacific, Inc.
- Nonprofit and Association Financial Management presented by Allen Arakaki, CPA
- Developments in Government Regulation, including the new IRS Form 990, Hawaii Act 174, and 2009 Legislative Changes presented by Doreen Griffith, CPA of Grant Thornton and Hugh Jones of the Attorney General's Office
- Intercultural Communication and Leadership presented by Anne Chipcase of Ohana Health Plan
- Meeting Planning and Issues, a panel discussion with experts from Building Industry Association-Hawaii, MC&A destination management specialists and Sheraton.
