Grants support needy and elderly patients, children

The Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific received a $100,000 grant from the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, enabling the medical facility to expand its charity care program for elderly and needy patients. The hospital is the only acute-care medical rehabilitation facility serving Hawaii and the Pacific Basin and offers a number of services, including physical, occupational and speech therapy.

Imua Family Services received $5,000 from the Fred Baldwin Memorial Foundation to support its Early Childhood Development Program, which provides therapeutic services for children ages 3 to 6 not served by the state Department of Education, Special Education Services. Imua Family Services serves more than 2,500 community members on Maui and Lanai each year with the Infant & Child Development Program, Early Childhood Development Program, Newborn Hearing Screening and Camp Imua.
