Hawaii Public Radio exceeds pledge goal early

Hawaii Public Radio exceeded its spring pledge drive goal in May one day ahead of schedule. The drive raised $745,235, exceeding its goal by $4,235. The nonprofit HPR schedules a ten-day drive each April and October.

Last fall’s fundraiser had the same goal of $741,000, but ended two hours into the 11th morning. HPR staff said the spring pledge drive was helped by a record-setting 1,747 early pledges that came in before the drive began April 22.

HPR, Hawaii’s National Public Radio affiliate, has two station streams: KHPR 88.1 FM, which carries NPR, classical music and fine arts; and KIPO 89.3 FM, which carries talk shows, news programs and world music programming.
