Visitor industry charity walk raises $901,029

The statewide Visitor Industry Charity Walk raised $901,029 during the May 15-16 weekend for more than 200 Hawaii charities. 9,111 walkers on Oahu, Maui, Kauai, Molokai and the Big Island participated in the 32nd annual charity walk, sponsored by the Hawaii Hotel & Lodging Association.

On Oahu 5,400 participants raised $310,000; on Maui 1,863 participants raised $331,421; on Kauai 978 participants raised $105,000; on the Big Island 800 participants raised $150,000; and on Molokai 70 participants raised $4,608. 

Hotels on all islands sponsored entertainment, food and beverage booths at checkpoint stations. The Hawaii Hotel & Lodging Association’s annual fundraiser is one of the largest in the state, raising more than $22 million for Hawaii charities since it began in 1978.
